The article analysizes the causes of study holdbacks on chemistry in the students who major in nursing and probes into the ways to overcome the holdbacks by investigating within the range of a secondary technical school. First, analysized from objective angle, the causes of study holdbacks are related to the following three factors .The first factor is about textbook. The teaching aims and demands, teaching contents don't correspond with teaching time .Otherwise, the textbook itself is too difficult for the students. The second factor is about teachers. Teachers' ideas of education are not regular. Knowledge structure is not so reasonable . Teachers' teaching abilities should be improved. The third factor is that school is short of experimental resources. Second, analysized from students' subjective angle, the cause of study holdbacks have four types .One type of students are those who are short of study motion. This type of students can be divided into four situation. That is the contradiction between demands and realities, the repound after pressure, they have ever been defeated, they negate the value of study, Another type of students are those whose knowledge is not enough. Their previous knowledge can't catch up with the teaching demands of a vocational school. The third type of students are those who have no suitable study methods and good learning habits. The fourth type of students are the synthesis of all above. According to the different causes, at the background of teaching reform in nursing major, we can adopt variety of ways to overcome the study holdbacks on chemistry. For example, to construct "Group module course"; To establish reasonable chemistry teaching aims; To rebuild chemistry teaching contents corresponded with nursing major. To improve teachers' unified qualities; To make teachers' knowledge structure more perfect; To improve teachers' teaching abilities .To increase investigative experiments in class; To develop home experiments; To Exert the function of probation after class. Take fully advantage of teaching resources, such as Multi-Media teaching approach, Adopt various kinds of teaching methods : Arousing study motion; Learning through successful experience; Directing Study methods; Loving sincerely, etc.
