The ISO9000 standards are international standards of quality management systems, which can be used in all works. They came from and are mostly used in the business. Recently, the ISO9000 standards have been applied into the educational quality management in China.There is also an upsurge in the "certification" of the said application. Nevertheless there are some problems in reality. First, the certification of the 1SO9000 standards as applied in the educational quality management has become a utilitarian behavior while the value and essence of the standards is lost. Second, the 1SO9000 standards has become the fundamental standards of educational quality management and are promoted widely thus to intensify the conflicts between the standards and the education activities themselves.On the issue of how to reckon on the ISO9000 standards, I believe, firstly, we should acknowledge the contribution of the standards toward the educational quality management because of their feasible application in the educational quality management. Secondly, we should apply the standards within certain extent thus to promote the reasonable application of the standards.The feasibility of the application of the ISO9000 standards to the educational quality management is as follows: In the first place, the standards can overcome certain shortcomings in our educational quality manae of tgement system. Secondly, both the method of operation and the substanche 1SO9000 standards are applicable to the educational quality management. Thirdly, the application of the ISO9000 standards has achieved a measure of success, which proves the 1SO9000 standards to be feasible. Finally, the ideas of the 1SO9000 standards have mush reference value to our educational quality management.At present, though the application of the 1SO9000 standards in the education has a rosy future, at the same time, some problems to be reckoned with still exist behind. Positive results and problems coexist in the application of the standards to our educational management system in today's reality. After all, the?ISO9000 standards came from and are primarily used in the business. Application of the standards to education would face the inevitable restriction. The difference between the quality of education and the quality of business product, and the difference between teaching in education and producing in business, are the root causes of the conflict and the restriction. Furthermore, the effort to improve the educational quality management through the application of the standards will not necessarily improve the quality of education. The formation of the quality of education is a very complicated process, and the role of the application of the ISO9000 standards in education is still limited.I believe, the educational circles in China must be objective in assessing the ISO9000 standards. Learning the ideas and borrowing the core values from the standards are our primary focus. Fundamentally, we must act up to the schooling laws and inspire the value of education, and apply the ISO9(X)0 standards as ancillary but not fundamental standards of the educational quality management. We should promote the autogenous, positive and voluntary motivation for the certification of the standards. So we can achieve the transformation of the educational quality management from "external propulsion" to "internal assurance".
