What is the relation between teachers and students in teaching? How is the place of them? Who is the center for both of them in teaching? All of these are considered by educators. Meanwhile they are the keys that teachers use what strategies to finish teaching tasks. In this point people's quarrels are endless. In length and breadth of China and foreign countries there are three kinds of theories. They are "teacher—centered view, student—centered view and teacher-and-student-centered view". Led by all these theories there are three kinds of teaching modes, which are teaching-centered teaching mode, learning-centered teaching mode and teaching-and-learning centered teaching mode. In this paper teaching-and-leaming centered teaching mode is discussed and strategies that are used in geography teaching are studied.Firstly in this paper the development for "teacher-and-student-centered view" is studied and then its theoretic base is concluded. Teaching-and-learning centered teaching mode depends on teacher-and-student-centered view and it is considered that teaching activities is a harmonious system between teaching and learning. Teachers are the key parts in the teaching system, which affects teaching plans, teaching aims and how to coach students' learning. Besides students are the key parts in learning. Learning is an initiative procedure of students with the help of teachers. Therefore if the function of both teachers and students doesn't work well, teaching procedure neither may be stopped nor goes well. Only when the two keys of teachers and students are in recognition at the same time is teaching procedure perfect. In designing teaching activities teachers should emphasize students' initiative, which make students the masters for learning. By discussing all these theories and teaching-and-learning centered teaching mode, the following are induced, which are the teaching philosophy, the main features, teaching aims, basic rules, teaching steps, teaching strategies and some problems to be noticed in practice.Afterward in this paper the applying value for teaching-and-learning centered teaching mode is discussed from the point in the reform of geography basic...
