The present biology for kindergarten teachers was compiled in 1998 and published in 1999, which made a great progress comparing to old ones. After its publishing, it was well received and it was popular with both teachers and students. But course reforms in fundamental education has developed rather fast in recent years, so its course system, structure and content have been adapted accordingly, that is —new fundamental course system has been set up for quality-oriented education. With the development of higher education, most of middle school students turn to universities for their study. As a result, students for kindergarten teaching decreased both in quaneity and in quality. And with the change of teaching plan, the number of biology course falls. In order to finish the teaching task, biology teachers have to teach by spoon-feeding way without fulfilling qualify-oriented education. So now the textbook is not suitable for students. In order to keep up with the step of education reforms and to put the qualify-oriented education into practice, we have to form a new viewpoint and compile new biology textbook under the instructions of the new viewpoint.According to some problems in using the old version, some reflections on teaching, questionnaire of my students and referring to some related books, the paper proposes some shallow suggestions and clues in compiling the new biology textbook.The paper is made up of three parts: the necessity of textbook reform; the demerits of the old version and some suggestions for improving; the standard for the new biology textbook. Part one will elaborate on the necessity of textbook reform in the following three aspects: meeting the needs of education reforms, the needs of students and demands the society put on the students. Part two will pick out some problems in content, form and teaching aims and propose suggestions for improving. Part three will set up a basic structure for the new biology textbook. It consists of five aspects,they are course nature, ideas of the new textbook, teaching aims, content system and appraising manners.
