The Chinese literature education and textbooks are transformed along with changes of the society. In the process of the transformation, the Chinese literature education has come to a new era. How should we modify the textbooks, key of the Chinese literature education, to successfully meet the new demands? Surely, it would be beneficial for us to digest the experience of the evolution of the high school Chinese literature textbooks for the last century. Also, we have to realize the advantage and disadvantage of the existing textbooks in order to clarify the development direction. In this article, the history of Chinese literature textbooks since Chinese literature became an independent subject is reviewed. The structures and article selections of the historically influential textbooks are analyzed. The rapid enhancement of textbooks modification, the achievement of ultiple subjects and multiple versions?for textbooks, the breakthrough of structure of textbooks, and the implementation of adolescent characteristics in textbooks are proposed and recommended for the future textbooks. The high school Chinese literature textbooks with the combination of tradition and innovation, and localization and globalization will hopefully be successfully developed to achieve the goal of scientific training, modernization, openness, and uniqueness.
