According to the pupils' features of body and mind and the current unsatisfactory traditional teaching methods of elementary school physical education, this paper focuses on the contrast between the teaching methods in game and the traditional teaching methods of physical education in elementary school. Meanwhile, this paper also provides an abundant theoretical foundation for the fact that present physical education of elementary school adopts the necessity and feasibility of teaching methods in game.The results of study shows: Number 1, there is no definite difference between teaching methods in game and traditional teaching methods in improving pupils' body shape. In students' overall qualities, it is the most important advantage too that teaching methods in game have recessiveness that traditional teaching methods can't be substituted very obviously, whole function of health of improvement pupil that teaching methods in game can be very obvious. Number 2,teaching methods in game help to make positive influence on the pupil's physical and mental health, it Can improve pupil's mental hygiene question to adopt teaching methods in game in a certain extent in physical education of elementary school, can promote and strengthen the exchange and cooperation between students and teacher, excite the full play of pupil's creativity, develop pupil's thinking space, make pupils develop in a healthy way in the direction with harmonious body and mind, but traditional sports teaching method seems not to have too many advantages in this respect. Number 3, teaching methods in game can make pupils more interested in physical education and actually make them like and take part in sports actively from psychology. Teaching methods in game conform to the psychological features of 4 and 5 grade of pupils so that pupils are willing to accept and like physical education and get more interest from it.The younger the pupils are, they are more interested in sports games. In addition, according to the observation and analysis, teaching methods in game are not merely suitable for pupils of grade of 4 and 5, totally suitable for the lower grade pupils at thesame time. Namely teaching methods in game can implement teaching of the physicaleducation of stage in whole elementary physical education as one important teachingmethod.
