As our nation is under national basic education curriculum reform, training student's self—education abilities and making full use of the learning files have become a key point which is paid great attetion to in the field of education. In this thesis, the anthor tries combining training the self—education abilities with using the learning files, based on middle school history teaching and learning, and building middle school history self—education files. The purpose of discussing such a new way of learning is first to train the students' self—education abilities, then to improve the quality of history teaching and learning, as the same time to promote the current middle school history teaching and learning reform, and at last to dig the great protential that is hidden behind the learning files so that they have the function of both evaluation and training self—education abilities. Based on practice, the author used experimentation and suggests five kinds of setf—education files. They are reflection files in class, self—regulated learning files, research learning files, after—class activity files and reading after class files. Reflection files in class refer to the kind of self—education ones that come from the history class teaching and learning. The students design their reflection cards in class according to their own anticipative goals and at the end of the term they collect such cards as they have made in each history class.
