Advocating telling the truth and true expression was representation of our moral tradition in ancient times and has been teaching ideas which have been esteemed since ancient times. Mr. Tao Xingzhi, the great educationalist, said directly: "The final aim of teaching is to teach learners to seek after truth, and whatever we learn, the most important is to learn to be a true man." It has been emphasized over and over in the new senior "Chinese Curriculum Standards" that students must be required to tell the truth instead of lies and avoid empty talks. However, in the practical teaching process, teachers can feel the lack of truth in students' compositions. "Copying, improvising and making-up" are the three usual ways most students turn to when writing. Therefore ,their works are not satisfactory in describing true people and true stories. Nor are the students successful in expressing themselves. Because of this, the author, as a senior Chinese teacher, attemps to research into the causes of this phenomenon with the purpose of developing students' sense of beauty and ability to understand life as well as training them to collect writing materials and mastering writing skills. In this way, "how to write compositions" and "how to be a man" will become interactive. Exactly speaking, students will grow up while writing compositions and write composition while growing up. Meanwhile, they can enjoy the pleasure brought by release, liberation and satisfaction until finally they're ready to express themselves and most important of all, they're good at it.
