In the new century, with the development of politics, economy, technology and the changing of the social structure, an era of information becomes true and the education theories and the health-care viewpoints utter their voice, which requests people to retrospect and summarize their own ideas as well as their attitude to meet the changing situation. As for the college students whose major are Physical Education, what they are required to do is inheriting Wushu tradition and making this kind of Chinese traditional culture bloom forever. To achieve the goal, the students of Physical Education Institute should realize that practicing Wushu is not only for finishing the college task, but also for disseminating the traditional culture. Only with this idea in mind, can they strengthen their practice in Wushu and improve their practical as well as theoretical ability in Wushu. Evaluation, as a kind of means to judge the value of things, is an necessary way to guarantee the effect of Wushu learning. Appraising the effect of the practice benefits the students and the teachers because they can get immediate information form each other and thus adjust their learning or teaching steps, so they can easily finish their teaching task. Appraisal can also benefit the teaching staff in teaching management and improve the whole education quality. Therefore, they can afford the high-quality graduates who will promote the social development and meet the social demand. After summing up the latest situation in education reform, the protrusive questions in Wushu teaching and the shortcomings in the common appraisal, the paper starts to deal with several relative concepts in appraising efforts. Then the paper focuses its attention on the following respects: Firstly, the part is about the basic theories in evaluating the effect of the compulsory Wushu courses, the modern education theory contains quality education, humanistic education and subject education; the modern teaching theory includes multi-intelligence theory, structuralism-learning theory and strategic-learning theory; the modern appraisal theory covers the value trends and the developing trends in evaluation. With the above-mentioned theories as a base, this part presents the developing trends in appraising the effect of compulsory Wushu courses. Secondly, this part deals with the realistic basis in appraisal. After analyzing the Physical Education Major's reality and future, this part concerns itself with the characteristics of Wushu course and the features in college student's physical as well as mental development. Thirdly, this part is about the principle, content as well as means in evaluation. As a main course in Physical Education Teaching, Wushu course follows the universal education pattern, so the general education pattern can play an important role in evaluating the Wushu course. With the help of the above-mentioned basic theories as well as the realistic base, the paper reaches its viewpoints that the appraisal in Wushu course should be performed from the student mental statement, communicative statement and object-achieving statement. The means of appraising can be observation, communication, contest and so on. The evaluating subject should include teachers, students, administrative personnel in teaching. The fourth, on the above investigative foundation, get a conclusion, put forward the suggestion, and put forward to treat in the further investigative problem.
