Traditional teaching models at English classes in middle school, to much extent, ignore many needs and potentials of teachers and students who are independent and different during the process of teaching, ignore the multilateral and multi-channel interactions that appear among teachers and students at English classes, ignore the students as learning bodies and developing bodies, and also ignore the nature of English language as a communicative tool. In order to make English teaching reform go further, to improve quality-oriented education in all levels and to make English teaching better, we teachers need to explore and study the teaching models at English classes carefully to bring teaching designs into effect at their best. Due to this, the author put forward the idea of the constructivist interactive teaching model at English classes in middle school.In this paper, first of all the author explains the essential concepts that appear in the constructivist interactive teaching model at English classes in middle school, says that interaction involves not only the expression of ideas, feelings and viewpoints between two persons or more, but also the effects on people. Then the author illustrates the theoretical foundations of the constructivist interactive teaching model at English classes in middle school, and they are two-body theory in English teaching, communication theory of English language teaching and social constructivist theory. After that, the author gives us the teaching aims of the constructivist interactive teaching model at English classes in middle school: to construct students' English knowledge and ability and to foster students' English communicative competence; to improve students' interactive and cooperative competence and thinking quality; to strengthen teachers and students' spiritual involvement and to make teaching and learning active; to adjust the relationship and the role of teaching and learning and to improve students' self-regulated learning ability. In addition, the author summarizes the guiding procedures of the constructivist interactive teaching model at English classes in middle school: (1)teacher giving learning instructions; (2) students teaching themselves; (3) team work; (4) team interaction; (5) teacher focus-explaining; (6)consolidating and practising; ?students summarizing. Furthermore, the author supplies four effective teaching strategies, and they are interpersonal interactive strategy (teacher-students interaction, students interaction) , meaning constructing strategy (scaffolding instruction, problem-based instruction) , cooperative learning strategy and task-based teaching strategy. So the author constructs the constructivist interactive teaching model at English classes in middle school that is consistent with the main ideas of the current English teaching reform and expected to be used by many English teachers in middle school. In the end, through the poll-investigation among the students in an ordinary middle school and a vocational middle school in Liyang city, the author finds that the students in middle school are eager to be instructed by the constructivist interactive teaching model at English classes in middle school. The author comes to the conclusion that it is necessary and urgent to carry out the constructivist interactive teaching model at English classes in middle school.
