The purpose of advocating the inquiry learning is to change the learning way of the students, the teaching way of the teachers, and let each student get overall development. Therefore, it's imperative to use the ideas and ways of inquiry learning to teach Chinese in middle schools.Based on the reference of the area where they had been developed the inquiry learning, the author came to the No.l Middle School of Licheng district in Jinan, Shandong Province to make some investigation to its activities of inquiry learning. Thus, the author gained an even more clear and in-depth understanding of the inquiry learning. Referred to the experts' and teachers' opinion, this thesis is on the elementary analysis of inquiry learning in the Chinese teaching. The author tried coming up with the principles for developing the inquiry learning in the Chinese teaching in order to make some contributions to its healthily development.This thesis is divided into three parts altogether. The first part introduces inquiry learning and theoretical foundation. The second part is the investigation analysis going through Li Cheng No. 1 Middle School. The third part is about the problems in the inquiry learning's practice process and the principle for practice. This is the key of this thesis. Concretely speaking, the main problems are as following: (l)Bias on understanding, (2)Utilized inquiry, (3)The misunderstanding of the teachers' role, (4)The students are not entirely aware of the inquiry learning's importance. The principles for practicing inquiry learning are as following: (1) Emphasizing the process and the method, (2)Accomplish the communication, (3)Stimulating the students to connect with their own experiences, (4)To choose the inquiry objects, (5)We can find inquiry objects everywhere.
