In the elementary education of our country, especially in some undeveloped areas, there is a very strange phenomenon which can not conform the reality and severely influences the students' full development and at the same time, obstructs the realization of educating aims and restricts the cultivation of qualified personnel. The phenomenon is called foolhardy teaching. Then what is foolhardy teaching? How does it harm our elementary education? Why does it exist and how do we solve this problem? By studying it's nature and widely collecting materials and using questionnaires, the author systematically studied the problem and found his own answers.Foolhardy teaching refers to the reckless acts in the educating activities which ruins the students' full development because of the improper teaching methods. Foolhardy teaching phenomenon is the generalization of various foolhardy teaching.What kind of activities can be regarded as the foolhardy teaching? Using the classification, the following phenomena can be classified into foolhardy teaching: attaching too much importance to the matter, simple evaluation standards, mechanical repetition, overloading, role-losing, excessive punishment, feelings-hurting.Foolhardy teaching causes too much injury to the students, the teacher, the school and the whole society.The following reasons caused the foolhardy teaching: concentrating on standardized quantity and industrialized high efficiency influence even dominate people's education concept, related department of the government can not exercise their functions and powers over education, the reform of examination system can not meet the needs of reality, people are eager for instant success and profit, congenitally deficient rough management are often used in teaching, teachers are absent from self-management, the principal position of the students is neglected.On the basis of the study of it's reasons, the author put forward the following proposals: establish the scientific, coordinative management system, give answers to the questions of slowly developing examination reform, develop the evaluation system, acquire the correct concept of evaluation and stress the multi-standard, comprehensive, developing evaluation, apply the encouragement theory, use the inside and outside reward properly, reform the system of selecting and appointing leading cadres, set up an effective training system so that the training became systematic, scientific and effective, enhance the reform of the teachers' pre-service training, improve the professional ability of the teachers-would-be.Through research, the author cautions people to reduce the foolhardy teaching and stress the importance of eliminating the foolhardy teaching and make the school a desirable and attractive place.
