Served as an important base for the quality education project, the college education is a key for the improvement of the quality of the whole nation, for the implication of the strategy "developing a country with science and education" and for the rejuvenation of the Chinese people as a whole. To further the art education of the college students and put forward the all-rounded education project with all forces has emerged as a lively field that can deepen the education reform and improve the quality of students as far as China's college education concerned. Therefore, in the course of the physical education practice, it meets the needs of our time to discuss the interactivity of moral education, intellectual education, physical education and the aesthetic education and to think in a three-dimensional way for the cultivation of college students' qualifications in general arts which are originated and developed in physical activities. The study of qualifications in general arts falls into categories of arts, aesthetics and psychology in theory and the category of education in practice, especially the all-rounded education from the perspective of educational modes. As a result, based on rich research achievements in aesthetics, education, psychology and qualification education, this study is to explore theoretically the relationship between calisthenics courses in Chinese universities and the development of the college students' qualifications in general arts, and to provide practically methods for obtaining these qualifications and the possibility of integrating the physical education and the arts education. Thus, it is of great significance and special value for the removal of traditional education concepts, for the further reform of the college physical education and the important performance of the modern physical education in all-rounded education.This study has applied various methodologies, for example, literatures, interviews, questionnaires, data statistics, experiments and logical deductions. The main questionnaire participants are 20 professors and associate professors who research on college education of calisthenics and arts inuniversities located in Hunan, Beijing, Liaoning, Guangdong, Helongjiang, Shanghai and some other cities. Moreover, the questionnaire participants also include 60 first-year college students of Class 2004 from Hunan University who were surveyed both before and after the experiment. The processing of data is done by the T test for data collaboration and some other normal ways in statistics.To apply the timely, scientific and forward looking course concepts to the calisthenics education, this study projects the theme unit teaching methodology called "Six units, 60 learning periods" which enriches the theory of the calisthenics education. To meet the requirements of cultivating talents set by the college art education, this study further puts forward the art quality education and creatively proposes the concept of the qualification in general arts, This study also distills the five main components of general art qualification: the artistic knowledge and skills, the aesthetical ability, the artistic cultivation, the sensibility of art and the artistic creativeness. At the same time, this study explores theoretically the relationship between calisthenics courses in Chinese universities and the development of college students' qualifications in general arts, and also gets it proved through teaching experiments. It concludes that calisthenics courses can develop students' senses of physical beauty, gesture beauty, rhythm beauty and their aesthetical ability as well. Additionally, it can improve the performance and the appreciation ability of students in artistic cultivation. Finally, it can strengthen students' ability in sensing beauty and music and arts in general, develop their creative thinking and artistic creation, enlarge their knowledge of aesthetics and calisthenics and improve their aerobics skills.
