The curriculum reform of vocational education is a most important component of education reform. It is also the requirement of vocational education reform, and the result of the competition and development of politics, economy, science & technology and labor market as well. To promote school-based curriculum development is a good way for secondary vocational schools to adapt to the development of society, a great action of deepening curriculum reform and an important breakthrough of vocational education.This thesis conducts a survey about school-based curriculum development in a large number of secondary vocational schools and analyzes the present-day situation as well as the existing problems. Based on this, with theories of school-based curriculum development both at home and abroad as theoretical guidance, this thesis takes the Trade School as an example and puts up with a practical method of developing the school-based curriculum in secondary vocational schools after a full knowledge of the world-wide main models of achieving this, aiming to contribute to the research and fulfillment of school-based curriculum development in secondary vocational schools in our country.The thesis consists of the following three parts:Part I: it introduces the background of the curriculum reform in secondary vocational schools and the existing curriculum problems in those schools, pointing out the significance of the development of school-based curriculum in solving these problems.Part II: the thesis makes a study of theories of school-based curriculum development. It introduces the main features of secondary vocational schools as well as the types of courses and the structures. It also analyzes the goals of developing school-based curriculum and introduces the main models of doing this around the world.Part III: the thesis conducts a survey about school-based curriculum development in a large number of secondary vocational schools in Wuhan. It takes the Trade School as an example and puts up with a practical method of developing the school-based curriculum in secondary vocational schools.
