The present senior English teaching has proved to be not effective and leads to students' poor performance in communication. This paper, aiming to introduce and interpret the modern multimedia assisted English teaching, intends to explore its application in English teaching in senior middle schools in China, analyzing the problems encountered and their causes.This thesis has reviewed the relevant theories related to multimedia assisted teaching, such as constructivism and theories of second language acquisition. Guided by these theories, the author has conducted a two-year experiment of multimedia assisted English teaching in a senior middle school in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province. The experiment shows that multimedia assisted English teaching has many advantages. It has overcome students' passivity in the traditional English teaching, and it can arouse the motivation, enthusiasm and initiative of the students. The teaching effect has been greatly improved as well.This paper consists of six parts:Part One is an introduction. It discusses the importance and necessity for adopting Multimedia assisted English teaching in senior middle school in China.Part Two describes the theories related to Multimedia assisted English teaching.Part Three is an introduction of the procedures of the experiment carried out in this study.Part Four reports and discusses the result of the experiment by presenting data analysis.Part Five provides some implications and reflections for Multimedia assisted English teaching.Part Six draws a conclusion from the research.
