With the development of society and technology, the human beings ability ofusing and changing the environment has greatly improved and great material andspiritual civilization has been created with a better life, while the ecologicalenvironment has been destroyed and global ecological problems have emerged. Soto refresh our understanding of environment and change it becomes urgent.Education of environment increases people's environmental consciousness, howeverthe protection acts is not satisfying. Investigation shows the average level of ourpublic environmental consciousness is comparatively low the environmentalconsciousness and quality are important marks of the civilization degree of a countryand a nation. The senior school students are the constructers of the future societyand the protectors of environment shouldering the responsibility of protecting theenvironment and their level of consciousness of environment is the pivotal element ofthe sustained development.According to the features of the development of the students' bodies and souls,and based on the conditions of the environmental consciousness in our country, inthis article, the necessity and urgency of the environmental consciousness isanalyzed and the definition of environmental consciousness and its cultivation aredefined and the idea of education "for the environment" is developed. According tothe request of the course of biology, the research on the environmentalconsciousness is carried out from the theoretic aspect and practice.In theory: the theory as well as its practability is analyzed and research is done.The theory of moral development stage, sustained development, environmentalethics form its theoriclogical basis .The practability is analyzed form the features, thegoal, the content and concept of the course.In practice: Teaching plans are made carefully from the choice of thetestees, the ways of cultivation as well as the rules that should obeyed. In theteaching actions experiments between equal groups are carried out and then theresults are analyzed, the students' environmental consciousness in the experimentalclass has an outstanding increase. While shows: the ways raised in this article suchas the further development of penetrating teaching method, the research study, advocation of community environmental investigation as well as the application of valueexplanation strategy has distinguishing value in developing the students'consciousness of environment and the concept of sustained development.At last, fixed quality and quantity analysis is made according to the results of theexperiments, the results and the questions remained are presented Besides pointingout the practicability of the cultivation of the consciousness of environment in thebiology teaching, at the same time, the author points out it's a systematic projectwhich needs the efforts from all sides and cooperation of all kinds of mechanism andfurther development.In the process of cultivation of environmental consciousness, the way to achievethis goal has been found out and put into practice, which strengthens theenvironmental consciousness, stimulates students' learning interest, confirms theway of study by research. Cultivates students' spirit of creation and consciousness ofgroup, offers a new way to solve the environmental problems as well as for thesustained development of society and economy.
