Education of the environment is generally regarded as an important aspect ofeducation by all the countries in the world. It is vital to solving the problem ofenvironment, protecting and improving it in order to realize the sustainabledevelopment of our society. Most scholars at home are more interested in the researchof abstract theory. They think education of environment is only part of the compulsiveeducation in primary schools and middle schools. As for how to have it in senior highschools, they don't have much interest. Therefore, theoretical knowledge here israther limited. The carrying out of education of environment rests only to the extent oftheory. Thus we think it is an important task to have education of environment insenior high schools. The following paper will study the basic theories of education ofenvironment by means of investigating, observing and comparing. It will also focuson the basic theory of having education of environment in senior high schools,exploring the practical mold of it, for example, how to give a definition of educationof environment, its characteristics, principles, contents and goals. Besides, it also hasa study of the methodology of having education of environment in senior high schools,including the avenues, methods and molds. We mainly have education of environmentby setting a specific curriculum of it, together with all kinds of social experiments.The so-called specific curriculum is referred to as that we have an independent coursein primary schools and middle schools. In this course we will teach the students thewell-chosen contents concerning with education of environment. The comprehensiveexperiments will focus on students having direct experience, closely combine theactual life of the students with the society, which is the actual practice of what theyhave learnt. This is an independent curriculum with its special function and value.Seen from the concrete experiments and the results of education of environment insenior high schools, we think that the independent curriculum is more suitable tostudents here than the actual social experience. We, therefore, argue that thenewcomers in senior high schools will have the course of education of environment.
