One of the important aims of the curriculum reform of our national fundamentaleducation in the new era is with a view to the change of the students' role as simplypassive receivers and to their active participation in an inquiring way. InquiryLearning is a reform towards the traditional way of teaching in which the students aresimple receivers and it is a reflection in the field of education of the new teachingconception that the students' spirit of innovation and capability of practice should becultivated. The teaching pattern of "conducting instructions in groups" is one in which bothteacher and student participate together, formulated under the educational idea ofhuman-centeredness and the theory of cooperation and inquiry in education;it is animportant action to deepen the fundamental education curriculum reform and toimplement quality-oriented education. This pattern is also a fine carrier to change thetraditional patterns of teachers' teaching and students' learning and a new pattern ofteaching in which cooperative learning and inquiry learning combined with eachother. The ultimate purpose of the research on the teaching pattern of "conductinginstructions in groups" is attempting to reform the present teacher-centered classroomteaching pattern which is characterized with the teacher's one-way inculcation. Beinglearner-centered, based on the students'independent cooperation and active inquiryand through their cooperative and inquiring practice, this teaching pattern canpromote the students' capability of innovation and practice and enhance their qualityin an all-round way, which is completely in accordance with the aim and requirementof the curriculum reform in the new era. The significance of the research on theteaching pattern of "conducting instructions in groups" lies not only in the enrichmentand development of the secondary school geography teaching methodology, but in theseek of a efficient way that can reform the traditional pattern, improve the teachingachievement, change the current teaching situation and be adapted to the march of thetime. So this research is of immense significance both in theory and in practice. This article has a relatively in-depth analysis of the formation, the design and theimplementation of the teaching pattern of "conducting instructions in groups". Withthe method of the combination of conducting research through both experiments andliterature, based on our school's practical operation in the secondary school geographyteaching process, we formulated the five-step teaching pattern of 'conductinginstructions in groups' i.e.conducting instruction through "lead in, questioning, showing, exploring and memorizing".The feasibility and efficiency of this pattern isproved through statistics study and questionnaire: the former showed the significantdifference with and without the implementation of this teaching pattern and the lattershowed its popularity among the majority of the students. As the experiment shows, the teaching pattern of "conducting instructions ingroups", which reflects a new educational idea, not only enhanced the enthusiasm ofthe teacher's teaching and the students' learning but also gave full play to thestudents' potential and innovative thinking, and improved their morality, will andlearning behavior. It also enhanced their interests in the study of other subjectsPractice suggests that the teaching pattern of "conducting instructions in groups" is animportant pattern to give play to the students' subjectivity in classroom study so thatthey actively participate in the whole process of the classroom instruction. It is a pointof departure to make breakthrough in carrying out quality-oriented education in anaround way, implementing the new curriculum standard and new education ideas, andformulating educational pattern, giving play to learners' subjectivity. It is a newattempt to form the best structure of classroom teaching process and to achieve thebest teaching result through the implementation new curriculum standard andeducation ideas. It is also an efficient teaching pattern for the students to attainself-development in an initiative, active and sound way.
