The 16th CPC National Congress report said that China will take a new road to industrialization, so we need more practicable talents to make the goal come true. Higher Vocational Education is very important in the industrial progress. As the world situation and inner situation of China, Higher Vocational Education not only has opportunities but also has challenges. On the one hand, the development of society and economy needs more and more practicable talents, and the voice from our government and academic circles is becoming higher and higher. On the other hand, people suspect, feel indifferent, discriminate and even repel Higher Vocational Education. They all like traditional higher education. Higher Vocational Education is struggling in this situation. Social psychology factors became the blocks of Higher Vocational Education. They influence the student resource of Higher Vocational Education directly, and influence the development and direction of Higher Vocational Education.This research is based on on-the-spot investigation. I take a senior school and two higher vocational colleges as cases. Learning from the cases, I found: almost all the people favor traditional higher education; they feel indifferent to Higher Vocational Education; most of them do not understand the meaning of Higher Vocational Education; the teachers of senior school and higher vocational colleges hold dual attitudes on Higher Vocational Education. These indicate that the social psychology factors which influence the development of Higher Vocational Education are concentrate on people have misunderstandings on it, and they blindly court for higher degree. Also because of the imperfect system of the Higher Vocational Education and the absence of career guide of senior school, cover up the merit of Higher Vocational Education. Based on the investigation, I try to find out the causes of people favor traditional higher education.This research based on the theory of Social Psychology and Educational Sociology. I inquire into the measures: extend the propagandizing, and create a good atmosphere; enhance the degree level; establish the mechanism of career guide; execute employment admittance system and employment competence authentication system.The paper includes introduction, main body and conclusion. The main body of this paper contains three chapters.
