Teachers'Professional Development (TPD for short) has already developed with full vitality in 1970s and 1980s. Teachers'function in education and status in the society has gradually been established in form of laws. Professional quality (PQ for short) is the core of professional development. It would be of great contribution to English teaching and learning to promote English teachers'professional quality.This essay focuses on English teachers'PQ and adopts questionnaire method and interviewing approach. It consists of four parts. The introduction part mainly discusses the significance and the purpose of English teachers'PQ. The first part defines the related concepts that appear in this essay. Part Two contains research methods and steps; theory foundation is elaborated, that is the content of English teachers'PQ. It's also about questionnaire editing, delivering and recovering. Part Three analyzes the data, using forms and tables to show the relation between teachers'age, title, education and English teachers'PQ. The last part discusses the analysis and gives some feasible suggestions.Good education comes from excellent teachers. Teachers'growth and development is one of the key problems of education. In-service teachers'PD could be realized in two ways: school training and self-renewal. The former way is organized by schools. Because of deficiency in education resources and time, not every teacher has chance to attend this kind of systematic training. While the latter way is a more feasible way for those who are busy with daily routines. This essay studies English teachers'PQ by demonstrating approach, and those school are only in city areas.
