As the focus and highlight of a new round of curriculum reform as well as the core subject in the comprehensive practice courses, the research-based study has profound connotation and important significance. The establishment and implementation of research-based study, the requirement of both the developing society and the general trend of educational reform, fully demonstrate the ideology of "education for people" and the development requirement of education for improving quality. How to integrate this focus into the curriculum system and establish its due position and how to stress the character of this highlight in training personnel with practical capability and entrepreneur spirit are the questions worth discussions and efforts to answer. The current research-based study in the senior middle schools of Jinchang has both witnessed development and encountered barriers. During the implementation, various problems from both the inside and outside of the educational system have caused many perplexities on the carryout and successful development of the research-based study. With these problems and perplexities in mind, the author has been down to schools and communities to investigate and learn the subjective and objective conditions of the schools for carrying out research-based study and the roots of the existing problems. In summary, the problems are as follows: firstly, the old educational concepts are not yet eliminated while the new ones are still to be set up; secondly, the old concepts of personnel are not yet broken while the new ones are still to be set up; thirdly, the old concepts of assessment are not yet abolished while the new ones are not completely integrated into the curriculum system; fourthly, the concepts and capability of the teachers are not compatible; fifthly, the study mode of passive acceptance confines the individual characters and exploration of the students; sixthly, a good atmosphere has not been created. The most important thing is that the teachers are afraid of difficulty because of no former examples when they are carrying out the research-based study. Based upon the observation, questionnaire, interview, and constant records of present situation of eight schools of Jinchang and serious analysis of the problems and perplexities, tries to find the root causes and hence look for countermeasures with these causes as major targets. To supply the necessary proofs of theory and practice in carrying out the local research-based study. The aims are to set up clear attitude and obligations toward curriculum reform both from the concepts and behavior of education, to obtain enough understanding and have enoughaction so as to be committed to the curriculum reform.The carryout and implementation of research-based study has not only fundamentally shaken the teaching mode of "three centers" (textbooks, classroom and teacher) and thus changing the old teaching method and study ways, but also indicated the orientations of educational reform and teaching. Therefore, it has an irreplaceable role to play in the emancipation and development of the individualities of the students and to allow the students to return to life and explore the values of living, existence and life so as to obtain healthy personalities and construct a system for lifetime study and sustainable development. All those involved in education should understand from the perspective of the national future and destiny the importance and far-reaching significance of carrying out research-based study for personnel training. With an enhanced sense of responsibility, they should make efforts to do a good job in proposing and implementing the curriculum reform and research-based study with "all for students" as the educational concept, so as to do well in curriculum reform and research-based study, to create and improve the value of education as well the quality and value of human life.
