This paper aims at cultivating students' (students aged 14-15 in junior two are chosen to be studied)creativity in English learning and teaching by practising and exploring their spirit of discovering new things, a strong wish to gain new methods and solve the problems creatively, their creative thinking and creativity consciousness as well as creativity abilities in order to promote their hamonious individuality. The author hopes to construct a mode of deveoping students' creativity by exploring education idea, teaching materials and environment so as to perfect it in the quality-orentited education.The paper applies strategies,principles of present methods of creativity education such as investigations, comparisons, experiments and interviews to develop students' creativity. By broadening their minds and exploring teaching materials, the author tries to develop students' divergent thinking of flnency,flexibility,elaboration and originality. And by the study of experimental class and comparative class, including their observation, memory, thinking and imagination;the relation between students and creative teachers as well as among society, family and school education;measuring and evaluating students' creativity, with the improvement of their level of English abilities, the author wants them to obtain primary creativity ' and gradually become creative in the future.The paper consists of four chapters. Chapter One expounds the background and the meaning of the study, the conditon, purpose and methods of the study. Chapter Two explains the theory of creativity, including its definition and the relative factors;and what creativity of middle school students is. Chapter Three is about how to develop students' creativity. The author investigates and does some experiments in English teaching. Chapter Four focuses on conclusions and reflection. The author summarizes the principles and methods of developing creativity, raises questions needed to be solved and how to solve.
