People have known better about Spoken Chinese Teaching with the difficult history and unusual experiences. The 2000 new Chinese Teaching General Outline has changed into "Spoken Chinese Intercommunication" from "Listening(training)","Speaking(training)" and "speaking ability" in the old general outline. The 2001 Complete Compulsory Education Chinese Course Criterion definitudes, "Spoken Chinese Intercommunication ability is the essential ability for a modern civil. We should train students' listening, expression and response ability and make them have civilization and harmonious communication quality." All those changes make listening and speaking teaching richer of contents. Listening and speaking teaching is thought to be as important as reading and writing. It indicates Chinese Teaching will return to the essence.In the recent years, Chinese teachers have made many researches on Spoken Chinese Teaching in many ways. They have got a lot of experience and they have achieved some agreements. But compared with the general outline and the 2001 Complete Compulsory Education Chinese Course Criterion, Spoken Chinese teaching are still lack of teachers' and students' knowledge and their recognition degree about it, configuring of teaching resources and the research achievements.I have made research on Spoken Chinese teaching by retrospect of Chinese history and reference foreign experience together with my own teaching experiences. I analyze all the history background, main tasks and developing courses of Spoken Chinese teaching from the end of Qing Dynasty .1 review and think about the teaching outlines, teaching materials, teaching activities and teaching theories and try to divide the spoken Chinese teaching history into eight periods. I compare and study spoken language teaching contents, the main characteristic of spoken language materials, their plans for their activities and the theories. The aim of looking back is to preview better. I try to give my ideas about the arrangements of spoken Chinese teaching in Chinese teaching outline and textbooks, the proper uses of modern teaching technology etc. to find out more efficient maneuvers in the new period of time.
