Analysis Of And Countermeasures For Agricultural Higher Vocational Education In Jiangsu

The higher agricultural vocational education takes a very important position in agricultural and rural economic development in Jiangsu Province. Using literature studies, case analysis, investigations and interviews, the author analyzed 8 higher agricultural vocational colleges in Jiangsu focusing on learning these colleges' experiences and lessons in facilities, student recruitments, discipline development and teacher training as well as relationship among teaching, research and production. In addition, the author also took a close look at the education in agricultural universities in Japan, by referring to their models of running universities, their management, student recruitments and employment, training and discipline development, teaching materials, teachers, financing as well as practical teaching. Based on the analysis above, the author made following recommendations to the development of the higher agricultural vocational education in Jiangsu: 1. Defining a clear concept is the basis for higher agricultural education development; 2. Upgrading of meaning of college running is the precondition; 3. Innovation is the key to continuous development; 4. Reforming is the driving force; 5. Improvement of government's services is the guarantee.
