An Explore To The Tendance Motivation That Adult Family Extends To Old Parents

With worldwide trend of aging population and the flow of rural labor, the aged parents can not get enough support from their children, which challenge the family support for the aged in the rural area and present the problem for looking after the old parents. Therefore it is necessary to understand the adult family's supporting motivation toward their parents.Although many foreign scholars have studied on this subject since 1970's, domestic scholars have few studies, especially in the field of rural family support for the aged. We know little about adult families' supporting motivation, the difficulty during their tendance and the demanding social supports. Based on this, the researcher carries this survey to explore their supporting motivation. The objects are twenty-four adult families from researcher's hometown Panling village.Result shows there are various motivations including redounding parents' fosterage, following traditional ethics, parents' desire, setting a good example for family, performing duty and obligation. The fact that old parents can help themselves and family, that family has a good condition and a better mediate system does urge the tendance for old parents. The interviewees meet difficulties like shortage of manpower, bad economy, time collision and spirit distracting and so on. Negative influence is put on the family and themselves. The society should pay attention to the problem and give them support. Relevant suggestions are also presented in the thesis.
