Foreign language teaching in China has developed nearly 100 years, The most remarkably rapid changes have experienced for foreign languages in secondary schools in China for 20 years since the reform and opening-up policy was carried out. Meanwhile, there have sprung a lot of teaching schools, which are for sure, to have positive effects on the teaching of foreign languages, Whereas, the main problem of present English classroom is the existence of high input, low output in classroom teaching. One of the cause is mainly related to secondary English teaching model. According to the years of secondary English teaching practice of the author, 24-character teaching model proposed by Liu Zhenghai is effective.The essay is a report exploring 24-character based model, which is referred to us: Drilling Ahead; Overall Mastering; Firm Training; Refined Homework; Advanced Reading and Supplementary Reading. Drilling Ahead refers to the focus on vocabulary and grammar advance at the beginning of the semester, mastering grammar and learning words. Overall Mastering is the main method to the text content. Firm Training is to enhance knowledge of languages in speaking practice and consolidation. In Refined Homework assignment should be well selected and explanation and training should be refined. In Advanced Reading four or more supplement texts should be covered together with the text. Supplementary Reading refers to the volume of extra-curricular and extra-curricular activities to broaden their reading. This study is based on rational analysis, and is conducting research practice of 24 Words.The study aims at making languages teaching more effectives with the new and scientific concept proposed in the new curriculum, looking into causes of failure in language learning, and helping language learners be more confident in language learning. This paper is divided into five parts. The first part discusses the teaching of English in middle schools. Part Two describes the schools of language teaching and the main elements of the 24-word based teaching model. Part Three is the model for the teaching experiment.
