Language learning is an integrated thing. The training and development of language skillsare integrated. The single emphasis on the improvement of just one skill is not enough. As anEnglish teacher, we should pay attention to developing the four language skills together. For along time, the junior middle school English teaching has been adopting the vocabulary andgrammar-centered teaching mode, resulting in students’ low language proficiency, especially thelanguage output capacity, that is, writing and speaking ability. The proportion of writing in theexams is growing. However, the teaching of English writing and speaking has always been theweak part of the junior middle school English teaching. How to improve students’ writing andspeaking has always been the common concern of the teachers. In recent years, scholars havealready done a lot of researches from different angles on how to improve writing and speakingability. However, most of the researches deal with university students rather than junior middleschool students. What the author concerns is to use output-based review model in Junior middleschool. The model is mainly used after the first grasp of grammar, words and so on. The authorholds that China’ s English teaching should be learner-centered, focusing on students’ languageoutput. China’ s Ministry of Education has always been concerned about the students’ Englishlearning. The Compulsory education English curriculum standards(2011)puts forward higherrequirements of students’ English learning. As an important subject in Senior high school entrance examination and College EntranceExamination, English makes up a large proportion. The proportion of English writing in theEnglish test is growing. As a result, the level of writing ability determines the English scores, andalso indirectly determines the results of the exam. The newly added written expression is to teststudents’ writing ability. Therefore, English writing is not only related to Senior high schoolentrance examination, but also related to College Entrance Examination in the future. Bothteachers and students have responsibility of learning and exploring together to further improvestudents’ ability. For the lack of the true natural language environment, English teaching in China is unique. Thus, this requires that the English teachers should try to create language learning conditions, which is conducive to language learning input and output, under the unnatural Englishenvironment. Making the potential of the teachers to full and inspiring students’ confidence, interest and potential, is the key to improving the quality of classroom teaching. Teachers shouldnot only play the role of knowledge provider, and should also play a guiding role. Teachersshould be able to use effective teaching methods to stimulate and increase the enthusiasm of thestudents’ involving in the communication, and to encourage students to take the initiative inusing the language, which will help students transit from passive recipients of languageknowledge into active participants in the communication. This study is mainly to verify the use of output-based review model to improve the writingand speaking ability of junior middle school students. This review model is mainly to improvestudents’ speaking ability by using retelling and to improve students’ writing ability by adoptingimitative writing. The subjects in the study are the students from Class7and Class8, Grade9, No.27MiddleSchool, JiNan.
