Research On Liang Qichao's Modernization Thought Of Education

Modernization of society should begin with the modernization of human beings which necessarily relies on education. As a famous modern educator of China, Liang Qichao set up his ultimate goal of education to cultivate new citizens of modern knowledge and thoughts in all his life. To achieve this goal, firstly Liang Qichao vigorously put forward modernization of educational purposes that education is to widely educate the vast number of ordinary citizens rather than a small quantity of elites; Secondly Liang Qichao advocated the modernization of education systems from kindergarten to university while abolishing the traditional feudal education system. His education system designed in the article Private View on Education Policy became the theoretical basis of China's first modern enacted education system "Guimao system"; Thirdly Liang Qichao strongly advocated the modernization of education materials emphasized on both moral education and modern science and technology education; Fourthly Liang Qichao advocated to achieve the modernization by two ways-school education and social education. For the school education, Liang Qichao persisted in basic education of teachers, girls and children. And for the social education, Liang Qichao paid great attention to family education which is to constantly improve citizens' qualities by running newspapers and attending lectures with the development of society; Finally, Liang Qichao also advocated to modernizing the principles and methods of our education.Liang Qichao was not only a prominent theorist of modern education, but also a modern education practitioner, whose practice can be highlighted in: running newspaper, establishing academies, making lectures and creating modern schools which especially made more comprehensive and innovative contributions to the modernization of China's education.Liang Qichat always committed himself to the modernization of China's education theoretically and practically, his ultimate goal of education was to achieve a democratized life-long education in a popular style and promoted the modernization of the whole society.
