A lot of research has been done on interest. In education it has been noticed long before that interest can obviously help to improve students' study. Therefore, adults keep trying to stimulate students' interest in study. Modern education should deepen the research on interest. What new meaning does interest have in modern education? What's wrong with the current view on interest? What is the reason? What teaching strategies can be used to promote students' interest? All of them should be researched. This article focuses on developing students' interest and tries to give answers to the above questions.The first part of the article analyzes the significance of interest in modern education. Students' interest is an inner and strong psychological tendency to probe and approach something. It is greatly related with students' spiritual state. Therefore, developing students' interest is significant to developing their initiative and creativity. In addition, paying attention to students' interest means paying attention to their life quality. However, in educational reality, there are various wrong views on interest. The second part of the article lists five wrong views on interest in current education and analyzes their causes.The third part of the article deals with the tendency of interest development. The article argues that the correct tendency is to help students to broaden their interest, lead them to form central interest and convert their ill interest, regarding to develop students' interest as an educational purpose more than an educational means. The fourth part of the article analyzes the teaching strategies, including discovering students' interest, stimulating students' interests, developing students' interest, converting students' interest, etc.
