The quality of P.E. teachers is demanded differently in different systems ofsociety and historical epoch. According to the development and requirement ofcurrent society, the Ministry of Education has successively published the standards ofindividual course of middle school since 2001, and it has gradually become popular inall state.The standard of physical and health course has put forward five targets: the skillsof sports, participating in the sports, the health of physical, the health of mental, theaccommodation to society, and The standard insists on the belief of four aspects, suchas: the directive thought of "the health, the first" to promote the students' healthygrowth, inspiring the students' interests in sports to develop the belief of whole-lifesports, attaching importance to center status of the students and concerning aboutstudents' distinctive and different demands to ensure every student to benefit. All thisask for new qualities of P.E. teacher to adapt the new changes.Through reviewing the different demands of quality of P.E. teacher in differenthistorical epoch and different countries and the objective requirement of currentsociety as well as the standard of physical and health course, the thesis summarizesand induces the essential qualities of P.E. teacher of middle school which are thefacets of concept and consciousness, knowledge structure, ability to organize, abilityto acquire information and to research on education.Using the method of questionnaire investigation and expert interview, regardingthe quality of P.E. teachers of middle school in Qingdao city as the main researchobject, the thesis masters the situation of quality of P.E. teacher. Comparing with theessential quality of P.E. teachers of middle school under the standard of course, thethesis comes to the following conclusions:The P.E. teachers of middle school in Qingdao city have comparatively highlevel of devotion to their work and have ideal of innovation who are able to realize theequal relationship between the teachers and students to convert teacher's role in theprocess of teaching. Having comparatively high level of knowledge of education andteaching and sports skill, they are able to adapt the modern demand of teaching, andrealize the importance of teachers' fascination. The teachers are able to master thetechnology of modern information and the basic operation of computer who are ableto develop studies of educational regularity to solve the practical problems.The disadvantages of the P.E. teachers of middle school in Qingdao are mainlyshown in the following facets, unable to discard the feudalistic thought, feel haveheavy mental pressure facing to the increasing society competition, lack of ability toexploit the sources of education, have considerable difficulties in organization ofteaching, reluctantly master the basic knowledge of computer but lack of ability touse multimedia software, most of them look down on theory study and have nopositivity to write paper of education.The thesis suggests that the P.E. teacher should transform the concept as soon aspossible to establish new style relationship between the teachers and students,attaching importance of the mental pressure to adjust the health of mental. Theyshould strengthen learning and research to improve ability to acquire information andset up the concept of learning in all life to improve the qualities of themselves toestablish the mechanism and system to promote the quality of P.E. teachers andenhance the feedback and supervision of students to teachers.
