With its specific education value, the theory of multiple intelligences put forward by theAmerican psychologist Howard Gardner from Harvard University has provided a beneficialtheoretical basis and guidance for our country's curriculum reform and presented us a neweducational view. The theory emphasizes the education ideology of "individual difference andrespecting human's diversity" ,which aims at developing students' potentials to themaximum degree. The significance of music teaching guided by the theory of multiple intelligences lies inthat it can present a broader developing space for the students and teachers, respect thephysical and mental developing disciplines of senior middle school students, and select theteaching contents and methods suitable for everyone to meet the demand of different students,so that it can spur the students' interest of music study and creativity and lay a life-longfoundation for their cultural qualities. Thus develop their personalities all-sidedly andharmoniously. The thesis carried out a practical research on the present situation and theexisting problems of our country's senior middle school class teaching based on the theory ofmultiple intelligences. Based on a long period of practice and study from former achievements, the writer heredeals with the following four aspects: the basic theory of multiple intelligences;the presentsituation and analysis of our country's music teaching of senior middle schools;the teachingpractical research;the enlightenment and suggestions that are drawn from the theory. The thesis aims at developing the students' creativity and practical ability, seeking ateaching mode which is suitable for our country and hoping that the study can bring some tipsand suggestions to our teaching practice.
