The study used questionnaire on 220 college students, investigated the relation of coping styles and subjective well-being and discussed the effect of group counseling on improving the college students'coping styles and subjective well-being. Distributing 72 subjects who fit the condition into experimental group and control group randomly. Each group have 36 students. Used group counseling on experimental group eight times every five days. Coping styles questionnaire, emotion balance scale and well-being index scale were used on both experimental group and control group before intervention and after intervention. The study used T test and One-Way ANOVA analysis. The result showed that:1. Positive coping stlyes were found have negative correlation with negative emotion and have positive correlations with positive emotion, emotion balance, total emotion index, living satisfaction and well-being index.2.Seeking help was significant predictor for positive emotion, emotion balance, total emotion index, living satisfaction and well-being index. Problem solving is in favor of improving positive emotion , reducing negative emotion and maintaining emotion balance. Self-abuse was found have negative affect on total emotion index, living satisfaction and well-being index.3.Group counseling can improve the college students'coping styles. They used problem solving and seeking help more often than self-abuse, fantasy and retreat.4.Group counseling can reduce the college students'negative emotion and improve their emotion balance, living satisfaction and well-being index.5.There are gender and grade differences on effect of intervention in group counseling, the influnce is more significant among female students and high grade students.
