With the coming of informative society, people realize that it will be a lifelong educational society, in which school is a cradle for training intellectuals. The knowledge, ability and qualities students acquire from school will decide whether they can whether they can adapt to the future society and get superiority in the future competition. The change of ways of study is a distinct feature of the 8th course revolution in China. New course put forward that students need to form a way of independent and co-operative study, which is the requirement of social development. The co-operative consciousness and ability are basic quality of modern people. Through theoretical research on independent and co-operative study, the writer finds out that there is no need to separate the two kinds of study that connect with each other. So this paper attempts to integrate them in this reform, proposing independent--- co-operative mode of P.E.This paper mainly discusses how to develop students'independent---co-operative aptitude and aims at improving teaching quality in high school P.E teaching. The key ways of researching are questionnaire and experiments. The questionnaire shows that the independent--- co-operative P.E teaching modes have effectively fostered students'co-operative aptitude and have effect on their creativity. It is an effective way of changing ways of study. The independent---co-operative P.E teaching mode provides new train of thoughts for high school teaching reform, as well as the changing of students'way of study. The mode has advanced each students'potentiality. The most important point is that students learn how to learn and work together with each other, which is a fully preparation for lifelong education. Combined with research work of independent---co-operative study of home and abroad in addition to years of P.E teaching experience, independent---co-operative teaching mode was primarily built. In high school P.E teaching experiment, the feasibility of this subject is testified through test of students'physique and basketball technique, comparison of pre and after-experiment ,whose favorable effect turned out to be very obvious,. Hopefully, it will provide practical experience for better study of ways of P.E study.
