For quite a long time, what dominates the History teaching in senior high school is a "Sending-Receiving" mode. This teaching mode has lots of disadvantages, mainly among which are teacher-centeredness, ignorance of the students' individualism, and passiveness of the students. Under that mode, the teacher governs the class without the student' s active participation; under that mode, the conveying of the knowledge is exaggerated without development of the capacity of the students' self-studying; under that mode, the in taking of knowledge is passively conducted without the initiative of the students. It brings poor teaching quality and effects, and the education function of History teaching in senior high school couldn't be thoroughly put into play, let alone the production of talents with high creativity. What' more, it doesn't meet the demands of the new curricula as well as the requirements of Quality Education. Improvement should be made to change the situation.Guided by modern teaching theories such as Development Zone Theory, Humanism Theory and Structuralism Theory, this dissertation combines the teaching experience of History in senior high school, trying to build a new class teaching mode: "Independent Study" after a series of researching and summing-up. "Independent Studying" highlights the students' initiative in learning History, with proper assistance from the teacher. In accordance with the total requirements of the new senior high school curricula, "Independent Studying" activates the students to participate in the process of class teaching and studying with their stronger self consciousness, which finally increases their interest, exercise their ability, rectifies their attitude and cultivate their values, besides fulfilling them with historical knowledge. The core objectives of this teaching mode are: turning teacher-centered teaching into students-centered, replacing the solo conveying knowledge by promoting the students' full development and transforming passive studying into active. It' s an open teaching mode, which emphasizes self controlling rather than being controlled. To sum up the above, the History teaching procedures of in senior high school could be illustrated as below:Teacher Activity: Creatingscene-Exposingaims-Organizing discussion-Explaining details-Collecting feedback-Making conclusionStudents Activity: Active participation-Independent exploring-Cooperative research-Elaborate questioning-Flexible applying-Clearly summeringCognition process: preparing-forming-deepening-developing-consolidating-constructingStudents Development: self-activation self-research cooperation self-evaluation self-improvement...
