| The key to teaching and learning in Senior English is to make students have interestes in lessons. Interests in learning English result from many aspects, one of which is the role played by a teacher in class. The acts of a teacher in class have a very important influence on Senior high school students learning English. Which acts of a teacher in class can make students learn English with interest and then arouse their enthusiasm of studying and their desire of seeking knowledge? And how can a teacher encourage their students to think actively? These are the problems which the thesis attempts to answer. Based on the theories of educational psychology, linguistics and neurobiology, the study used the quantitative research method to investigate the effects of teaching activity on students' studying among the students of Grade one and two at an elite senior high school in a form of questionnaire. The questionnaire was concerned about six aspects of a teacher , altogether twenty-two questions. The result showed that the teachers' affect to students and his professional moral are the strongest factors which influence students' interest in English learning. Based on the results, the study comes to the conclusion that our TEFL should be based on a social constructivist model . The teachers should act as a instructor or promoter to create a positive class environment to develop the whole person. As well as developing the students cognitive, the teacher should promote the development of students' self-concept, transformtheir traditional teaching beliefs and build up a new one-----teaching and education shouldnot be separated: without teaching , education will engage in idle theorizing; without education, teaching will lose its true meaning. In a word, a teacher should implement his or her philosophy of teaching and education in order to achieve quality education. |
