Interest is a positive psychological tendency and characteristic with strong emotion to drive people to know, to research, even to gain knowledge of something, which is a reflection of the individual subjective initiation and inner strength. Interest of learning makes students selectively and pleasantly touch, explore, research something and then gain the relevant information, which is a positive attitude of students towards learning, especially for English. So interest drives students to explore the world and cultivate their views of world, which is the foundation of students’ attention. Only making students have interest in English learning, can their attention be attracted by teachers, and understand what teachers taught, meanwhile to arouse their curiosity to study deeply.For a long time, students are used to listening to teachers in English classes in senior high school in China, which can guarantee the systematicness of knowledge, but would pay less attention to students’ interest. To some extent, the English learning interest of students is not extremely aroused, which can make students lose English learning confidence and motivation. In order to get information about current situation of senior high school students’ English learning interest, this article analyzes the influential factors on cultivating students’ English learning interest with questionnaire and interview from the aspects of attitude, motivation, needs, interest, extra-curriculum, relations of students and teachers, academic attribution. The subjects of the questionnaire are students ranging from senior one to senior three in Guyuan Hui middle school, the number of students of each grade is about 50, 150 students in sum. The author analyzes the datas of questionnaire by taking students themselves, English subject, family and school into considerations, then try to propose some feasible teaching strategies to cultivate and arouse students’ English learning interest, hoping which can help teachers know how to cultivate English learning interest of students, and improve the level of English teaching and learning, even cultivate students’ comprehensible ability of using language.
