Analysis On The Management Model Of University Of California In U.S.A.

In May 1998, Comrade Jiang Zemin called on"building world first-classuniversity", hereafter many famous universities in China made ideals forbuilding a world famous university one by one, and performed substantialwork toward this prime goal. It became an urgent question that how to buildandwell-manageafull-disciplined,populatedandcampus-separateduniversity.Now our country's researchers have just begun their pace toward this study,mainly on university's organization, multi-campus management, connectionwith outer environment and foreign university's inner-management. From thegeneral point of view, the researching content is diversified and just steps intodiscussion period, and then commonly-recognized settlement is scarce.Comparatively, foreign researchers have done relevant researches early, andreceived comparativelyclear understandingin higher education system, use ofuniversities, multi-campus university system. And this can be a macroscopicguidance for our studies. University of California (UC) in U.S.A. is a publicresearching university, which possesses complete disciplinary classifications,and of which students'population reaches 200,000, having 10 campuses andreceiving high fame in the world. It is of great value for us to consider itssuccessful experience.Hence,thisarticleintroducesthemanagement model ofUniversity of California in hope of providing a useful reference to ouruniversities'constructionandmanagement.This article is divided into five sections. The first section classifies theconnotation of management model of UC; the second, third, and fourthsections analyzes UC management from the points of UC management idea,mechanism and running; the fifth section naturallydevises several inspirationsfromthemanagementmodelofUC.
