In Tang Dynasty, the banished officials were primarily exiled to Lingnan (South of the Five Ridges) because of the torrid climate and backward economics and cultural situations there. This study collected 629 banished officials and made a list according to the time they were banished. This study gave a detailed analysis concerning the group of banished officials, the number of the banished officials, their culture level, the reason for banishing and the distribution of areas were studied.With profound knowledge and rich experience in government, the banished officials contributed much to the education in Lingnan for their actively supporting educational business. They built public schools, developed private education, and wrote books , etc.Based on the analysis of the amount of scholars, poets and prosers, studing the local districbution of banished officials, this study found that there was a strong relationship between the educational development of Lingnan and the banished officials'industry. Therefore, the banished officials had profound influence upon education of Lingnan. On one hand, they set up the institutional official education system. On the other, they led the fashion of study.
