Living in the Golden Age of China, youths who stay in the "greenhouse" of Shanghai unfortunately face the panic as NEETs in Britain and Japan. These young people who are living in the community are not in education, Employment or Training. They not only fail to finish, the transition from school to the workplace, but also grow up to be adults. People consider them as Vulnerable Groups, and think these young people are so detestable for they do not try hard in finding a job. These youth, however, have their understandings of their own career development. The main reason why I chose this topic would be that there is the same experience of career development between these NEETs and me. As such youths, we might be at the same age and share some characteristic of the only child generation. Enjoying advantages of such generation, we also got the disadvantages of it. Everything is changed, including generalized ideology, social culture and even all aspects of life. In this era, the career development of individuals cannot neglect some topics. Such as how our career development c-ould be good, what significant effects would happen between persons and their original family for stimulating their career development, How the individual and the social environment interact, more importantly, the individual how to handle the relationship between them and their self. The methods of study in this thesis are fieldwork, interview, observation and collecting the career self-narrative texts etc. Getting lots of information about such people, Xiaodai was selected as a case for Longitudinal Study. While, the group of these persons were cases for expanding cross-sectional study. The purpose of this paper is to contact with the NEETS living in the community and find out the career barrier of the community youth by focusing on Xiaodai. By analyzing the important events of the career development of Xiaodai, we found that there existing a little delaying in her career. The cause of this delaying might be the bad relationship between Xiaodai and her family, friends, colleagues and others. As a sample of these NEETs, Xiaodai’s characteristics might be the same as other NEETs in Shanghai. So other samples of the NEETs group is also introduced in this paper and we hope to make an outline of this group. The major finding in this paper.is that the status of the NEETs is a result of the incompatibility between them and their Microscopic Career system (mostly refer to the family of origin). Another point, which shouldn’t be forgotten, is that the self-center, independence and lacking of confidence aggravate this NEETs situation. Fortunately, these youths are naturally competitive persons and also expecting changing the NEETs status. They have found that getting jobs, exploring some interest and having faith are the best ways for them to walk out of this struggling situation.
