Motivation In Middle School Students' English Learning

Motivation is one of the major factors of learning process. It plays a very important role in English teaching The new English curriculum puts great emphasis on learning motivation which is regarded as one of the important goals of English learning and teaching. Unmotivated students are insufficiently involved in class and therefore unable to develop their language skills adequately. Because of the existing motivational problems in senior school English teaching and learning, this paper presents the motivational theories and their implications in English teaching, studies the motivational factors and puts forward some practical ways as solutions.There are five parts in the paper. Part one introduces the purpose of the research, points out the importance of learning motivation Part two introduces some important learning motivation theories and foreign language motivation ideas. Besides, it also expounds a few conceptions and classifications of learning motivation to help us understand its concepts. Part three presents investigation and analysis of English learning motivation of a senior school in Chongqing.
