Study On Facilitating The Cross-disciplinary Research Of Chinese Universities

The paper focuses on the cross-disciplinary research of the universities in China and USA, with the purposes of summarizing the experience of American research universities, evaluating the current situation of Chinese universities, and putting forward some constructive suggestions that can be used to promote the cross-disciplinary research of Chinese universities in the future.Beginning with the introduction of the concept, drivers of cross disciplinary research, and the characteristics of different academy organizations and their cross-disciplinary research, the paper comprehensively examines the developing history and the supporting environment of the whole American research universities'cross-disciplinary research, and the case of MIT.Based on the study above, the paper objectively evaluates the developing level and the current condition of the cross-disciplinary research in Chinese universities. After that, the paper brings forwards some suggestions on facilitating the cross-disciplinary research of Chinese universities, from the points of construction of supporting environment, amalgamation of different disciplines, and training of cross-disciplinary researchers and students.
