A Study On Mathematical Applied Question Of Junior High School Based On New Curriculum Reform

Since the middle of 21st century, with the development of computer and modern information technology, never before has mathematical application been attached more importance. In consequence, mathematical application has become the main melody for mathematical education reform internationally. Mathematical applied question, which provides junior high school students a good opening, is an effective carrier by which students can improve their consciousness of mathematic application and grasp the thoughts of mathematical modeling; consequently, they acquire the ability to solve practical problems.Then, with the new curriculum reform gradually forward, what is the position of mathematical applied questions in the teaching practice of mathematics? And what has changed about it? The present study, based on elucidating the connotation, types of applied questions and the relation with mathematical modeling, analyses and considers several issues about mathematical applied questions of junior high school by the qualitative analysis and quantitative approach. It discusses from two dimensions—the teaching material and the entrance examination to senior high school. The former mainly focuses on ten aspects, which include the importance of mathematical applied questions, the material choosing, the function, the presentation ways, and the thought of mathematical modeling, the span of mathematical modeling, the flexibility of material arrangement, the degree of opening to the questions ,the problem-solving methods, and the development and exploitation of other resource. Meanwhile, it studies the issues by comparing two kinds of teaching materials, which refer to the three-year junior textbook for obligatory education ( the revised one) published in December 2001 and "New century publication" of junior mathematical teaching material (New teaching material is for short hereinafter) written according to Full Time Obligatory Education Mathematics Curriculum Standards. Whereas the latter is about the change of the examination score, the exploration of mathematical knowledge, the material choosing, the presentation ways, the functions, the degree of opening to the questions, and the propositional perspective of mathematic problems.The conclusion from the analysis of mathematical applied questions is as follows: firstly, the new one attaches more importance to mathematical applied question; the subject-matter of it more widely cares the development of the society; next, it pays more and more attention to achieving students' thoughts education through mathematical applied question; and it has various ways in presenting and solving applied questions; meanwhile, it takes applied sense into account and brings forward the idea of mathematical modeling, moreover, the pace of which has been increasing; in addition, it arranges in flexible way and adds some opening applied questions, finally it can be as the carrier to combine with the development and exploitation of other curriculum resource. However, there still exist some tentative issues to research in the effective use, the veracity, the transition to mathematical modeling, and the education function of the space and the mathematical diagram about new teaching material in the context.The results from mathematical applied questions of the entrance examination to senior high school include: the scores of mathematical applied question has gradually been increasing since the implementation of new curriculum reform; and the exploration of mathematical knowledge tends to be in generalized and multidimensional ways; at the same time, it is wide in material, close to practice, caring for the hot topic of society and presenting the local style; it presents in dialogue, diagram, picture and table and takes more and more notice of the function of thought education; and also some opening applied questions are designed in examination; furthermore, the proposition of mathematical examination ranges from mathematical knowledge angle to practical ability aspect, thus, the conception of mathematical modeling is in some degree achieved.The results from the above show the following implications: mathematical applied questions are in certain proportion in the compilation of teaching material and the proposition of the entrance examination to senior high school; the advantage, surely, from the result of the present about new teaching material and applied questions in a new perspective, is very valuable. Through these changes mentioned above the following teaching implications are drawn: firstly, teachers should take applied question teaching seriously, which results from the transformation of teaching concepts; then, aims of applied question teaching should be orientated to cultivate students' mathematical applied sense; next, teaching process should embody the thought of mathematical modeling and the principle in order and advance step by step should be followed; besides, meaningful materials should be presented vividly and learned in various ways; finally, teaching material should be adopted creatively.
