Body esteem or satisfaction with physical appearance has been established as an important aspect of self-worth and mental health across the life span. It is related to self-esteem, sexuality, family relationships and identity. Given the fact that physical appearance is a multifaceted structural concept that depends, not only on inner-biological, but also a psychological and socio-cultural components, the purpose of this study was to examine variables that are related to and influenced by satisfaction with physical appearance.Study 1 edited objectified body consciousness scale (OBCS), the OBCS developed consists of three factors: the body surveillance subscale, the body shame subscale, the control beliefs subscale, assessed by investigating 228 college students.αcoefficients for above the 3 factors are 0.875,0.861,0.865. The OBCS is better validity and reliability, so it could be used widely in the practice of the evaluations of objectified body consciousness.Study 2 is attention the Predictors of body esteem in college students. Body mass index (BMI), objectified body consciousness, media influence, interaction anxiousness and self-acceptance were examined in correlation with physical appearance. College students (207 males and 225 females) completed scales of body esteem Scale, objectified body consciousness scale, interaction anxiousness scale, self-acceptance scale and the media influence scale. Each subject self-reported his/her weight and height and these were used to calculate weight/height ratio known as the body mass index. which was developed for this project.Differences between male and female perceptions of physical appearance in relationship to BMI were found: Among women, higher BMI were associated with lower scores on perceptions of physical appearance, whereas for males.
