Upon the research on teaching for more than ten years, Kimon Nicolaides, a famous art educator in America and a well-known teacher at the Art Students'League of New York as well, has originated an unique life-drawing training system named"blind drawing", and made a great contribution to the art education in America by cultivating numerous outstanding modernistic artists in the 20th century. The teaching system of"blind drawing"is obviously different from that of traditional realism. It lays stress on students'personal feel and emphasizes that students should in the first place comprehend things by using all their sensory organs instead of drawing up things. With tactile sensation and kinesthesis playing a leading role and bringing along visual sense to feel things, students'eyes synchronize with their hands when they draw and what they gaze at is model instead of drawing paper while their pencils moving. When students drawing blind, their drawing action and observation will be integrated with their action of feeling the models and thereby, with full passions all along in the process of drawing, students can swiftly find themselves and deepen their cognition to arts as they make a fresh and specific expression of their own feelings."Blind drawing"training system has blazed a new trail and produced an effect on the whole contemporary teaching of life-drawing in America.By means of research on Kimon Nicolaides'teaching system of life-drawing, the thesis try to enable the art educators in China to understand systematically the distinct ideas and teaching methods of life-drawing abroad and as a result, broaden the field of basic skill training and somewhat be help to the domestic reformation of drawing-teaching finally.
