As one of the most important affective factors in EFL learning, motivation has great influence on both the learning process and result. Nowadays, in secondary vocational school, the English teaching is very difficult to go on, because the teachers are always challenged by some unmotivated or demotivated learners. The motivational problems prevent the language teaching and learning going successfully and effectively.The purpose of this study is to survey the types of English learning of the secondary vocational school students' and relationship between types of English learning motivation and English achievement of students. The method used in this survey was a combination of quantitative and qualitative research. The subjects were 74 students from a secondary vocational school in Yunnan province. The writer used Gao Yihong's (2003) questionnaire in the investigation of the English learning motivation types of secondary vocational school students. The SPSS software was used for data analysis.The results provided by the factors analysis indicated that five types of motivation emerged. They are intrinsic interest motivation, going abroad motivation, learning situation motivation, personal development motivation and extrinsic requirement motivation.
