The new curriculum, which requires a deep and overall change from the teachers, can only be effective when the proposed concept and teaching methods can be internalized by the teachers and embodied in their teaching behaviors. As the final performers of the new curriculum, teachers' adaptability to the new school curriculum bears upon the further deepening of reform.A teacher' s attitude and teaching behaviors reflect his adaptability to the new school curriculum. In order to comprehend teachers' adaptability and then analyze factors facilitating or obstructing the process, this thesis has done some research on mathematics teachers of primary school in ChongQing by means of questionnaire, interview and observance in real class. The result shows that: In general, mathematics teachers in primary school hold a positive attitude towards the new curriculum, their teaching behaviors embody the requirements of Standards and teachers show certain adaptability to the new curriculum, however, teachers in the countryside show inadequate concern about the new curriculum and the textbook is not sufficiently utilized. Factors affecting the adaptability mainly focus on the support from the outside and inside school, including inadequate teaching equipment, the incomplete system of textbooks, teaching aids and tools, insufficient support from training institutions, normal universities and experts, especially towards primary schools in the countryside, resulting in teachers' long time fore lecture preparation and high work pressure. Based on these research findings and the enlightenment resulting from years of teaching, the writer has the following suggestions: make research of the utility of capital investment, change the funding mode of teaching resources; strengthen the training of primary school teachers in the countryside; seek effective training methods, make a success of school-based educational research; form a complete system of textbook revision, teaching aids and teaching tools.
