| Nowadays both the direction of employment for college students and the employment consciousness of college students are facing a shock caused by the integration between Chinese and western culture under the globalization of the world economy and the switch of the mode of human resource placement under the market economic condition. As an important part of ideological and political education in colleges and universities, the direction of employment for college students ought to keep the pace with time, bring forth new ideas constantly, persist in a people-oriented idea and seek a people-centered value. And two questions have to be answered soundly :(1) what kind of students we want through our cultivation to satisfy our ideological and political needs and (2) how can we exercise our cultivation to students to meet students' immediate needs and long-term interests. However , not only is there a wide gap between the actual function and ideal requirement mentioned above in the direction of employment for college students , but the direction of employment for college students itself is used distortedly as an instrument/mean for the seeking of " a higher employment rate" . Here a matter-oriented rationality of instrument corrodes people-oriented rationality of values. So we should straighten the crooked to excess the direction of employment for college students systematically and integrate the rationality of instrument with rationality of values of the direction of employment for college students into the cultivation of modern employment consciousness of college students.The essence of modern employment consciousness of college students is a modernization of the employment consciousness of college students.
