An important content of the construction of “double first-class” universities is to cultivate excellent students needed by the society.The specialty setup and specialty structure of “double first-class” universities meet the employment needs of students is an important criterion for evaluating the quality of student training.Employment is one of the purposes for students to take higher education,and students study in colleges with the expectation of finding a good job in the future.Thus,it is of great significance to probe into the merits and shortcomings of "double first-class" universities' specialty setup and specialty structure from the perspective of undergraduate's evaluation of employment prospect.Based on the data of undergraduate's evaluation of employment prospect in 134 “double first-class” universities which collected by the Ministry of Education's largescale network survey,this study obtained the following conclusions through independent sample T test,one-way ANOVA and multiple linear regression analysis.First,the undergraduate's evaluation of employment prospect in engineering and economics at first class university is significantly better than those in other type of universities.The undergraduate's evaluation of employment prospect in management and economics in eastern region are significantly better than those in the western regions.The undergraduate's evaluation of employment prospect in science,engineering,economics,law in specialized college is significantly better than those in comprehensive university.Second,the undergraduate's evaluation of employment prospect in applied disciplines such as engineering and medicine are relatively optimism,while the undergraduate's evaluation of employment prospect in basic disciplines such as science,philosophy,history are relatively pessimism.This can be explained by the degree of specificity of human capital accumulated by students in different specialties.This also shows that there are unreasonable aspects in the specialty structure in universities,especially the specialty setup of basic subjects is not conducive to student employment.Third,the information on labor market such as professional average salary has a significant positive impact on the undergraduate' evaluation of employment prospect.Fourth,the undergraduate's evaluation of employment prospect in emerging engineering related fields is better than those in traditional engineering.This shows that the emerging engineering education is conducive to the promotion of college students' employment,and also pointed out the direction for the future specialty adjustment of engineering education.Fifth,the undergraduate's evaluation of employment prospect in business-oriented majors such as business administration is better than those in enterprise-oriented majors such as administrative management.In order to effectively promote the employment of college students,the following suggestions are proposed: the specialty setup of basic subjects in universities should take the needs of students' employment into consideration.Besides,it is necessary for universities to adapt to the needs of industrial restructuring and promote the development of emerging engineering education.In addition,the government should give universities the autonomy of specialty setup,so that universities can make flexible adjustments according to their needs.
