Research On Career Guidance In American University

As a new vocation guidance model, Career guidance comes from America. In America it experiences vocation guidance stage and career guidance stage. There are career development theories, such as theory of career choice and theory of career decision-making and so on. At first, career guidance is used in business, then used in schools. For the difficult job hunting market, it will be great theoretical and practical significances to study career guidance in American university. This thesis hopes to get some useful experiences and lessons from research on career guidance in American University.There is much research about career guidance, but only a little of them is about career guidance in American university.Chapter 1 is the review of the development of career guidance in America. Five stages have been identified. The first stage is the appearance of vocation guidance and the second stage is development of vocation assistance. The third one is about career guidance, during this time, career guidance take the place of vocation guidance. The last stage is the promotion of career education.Chapter 2 is involved about career guidance theories in American university, which is mainly discussed the career development theory and career decision- making theory.In chapter 3, examples of career guidance system and method in American university are introduced.Chapter 4, by comparing career guidance in American university with what is in our university, we can drive some good experience in order to improve our work.
