As China walks futher towards an international market where globalization intensifies every second, factors for development, like capital, techniques, materials and human resources are flowing into growth poles, accerlerating the process of urbanlization. It is in such a background that the researcher is trying to analyze the influence did by migration on indivisual careers, from data she collected through interviews on life history in a developed city, namely, Shanghai. The method applied in this reseach is interview, through which life history of interviewees are known, manifestating routes of migration and career development, as well as resources they posess, and how these resources work during the process of migration.The entire dissertation is divided into three parts: a general description, the research frame and case studies.There is only one chapter in the first part where a brief introduction is made, including what is being researched, how the research began, definition of ideas and literature filing.Three chapters construct the second part:Chapter 2 introduces related theories on migration, in pursuit of finding some variables. And also describes the background of migration.Chapter 3 introduces related theories on career development, also in pursuit of finding some variables. Futhermore, it concludes the situation of career research in China.Chapter 4 gives the methodology and how researcher carries on the entire research, including the choice of methods, definition of interviewees, collection and analyse of data.Chapter 5 and 6 belongs to the part of case study.The former one portrays lives of interviewees according to a diachronic axle, borrrowng the idea the career dynamics in order to give a track of all these stories.The latter one is a synchronic comparison, using variables from the second part to file and analyze these cases.
